Allure magazine posted the lipstick choices the stars wore at the Oscars. The brands are varied — from Chanel to Laura Mercier to Revlon and even Burt’s Bees.

The easiest and least expensive way to change your outfit and usher in the warm weather is to purchase a new lipstick. Here’s a top ten list for the season in a range of hues. The beauty experts at Neiman Marcus, Troy, provided the majority of the list, along with some help from Ruby’s Balm in West Bloomfield, Mich.
Pantone, the international color forecaster, selects Rose Quartz and Peach Echo as the trends for spring 2016. Rose Quartz, a sheer pink, reflects calmness and gentleness, while Peach Echo evokes warmth and playfulness.
Gillian Berger, owner of Ruby’s Balm in West Bloomfield echoes the subtle shades. “Nudes are the trend with soft lips and bold eyes.”
Also hot — red hot. “Say goodbye to the dark and come into the light and brights, says Lindsey Machachek Barile, PR manager at Neiman Marcus, Troy. “A major trend for spring is confident reds. This trend translates across all categories, from ready-to-wear, to accessories and, of course, beauty.”
The lipstick names are as fun and lively as the products. Here’s the top ten (brand and name):
Marc Jacobs Beauty Collection offers sheer nudes in hues of pale pink and brown.
This berry color brightens the face.
This vibrant hue resembles the color of a flamingo.
The black and white packaging rivals the bold color.
Estee Lauder makes a daring statement with Vengeful Red.
The perfect shade for Paris in springtime.
Selena Gomez chose this for Sundance, perhaps because the matte finish moisturizes the lips.
This luscious color is from the “Kiss Kiss” collection.
It’s not only perfect for lips, but it’s also a beauty booster for cheeks.
This is the classic lipstick on annual lists.

New York designer Marc Jacobs is known for his Louis Vuitton confections as former head of the French fashion house, and his namesake labels in clothing and handbags. But his eponymous beauty collection, only a few years old, makes an indelible mark this spring. Neiman Marcus, the upscale department store, announced it will carry his collection.
“The timing could not be better because spring is about taking a playful approach to beauty — the perfect time to break away from your go to colors and daily routine,” writes Kelly St. John, vice president of beauty at Neiman Marcus, in her newsletter.
The Marc Jacobs Beauty collection features the traditional eye, lip and face makeup with an aura of drama. The shiny, black-lacquered packaging is glam, glossy and seductive. An elegant silver button snaps shut compacts and lipstick cases. Jacobs has transferred his couture designs to the eyes, and the eyes are a makeup homerun. The mascara is called Lash Couture with three new formulas: Velvet Noir for volume, Feather Noir for definition and Lame Noir for luster. But it’s the eyeliners, called Eye Crayons, that are a must buy. The Fineliner Ultra Skinny ($24) glides on and provides definition for a wide-eyed look. The Highliner Gel Eye Crayon ($25) in two dozen hues from MariGold to Orange Crush to Violet Femme makes a bold statement from morning until midnight.
In keeping with spring trends, Jacobs’ lipsticks run the gambit from nude shades to bold reds and fuchsias.Marc Jacobs Beauty collection is about creating your own style and having fun.“I love makeup, and I love that it transforms,” Jacobs says. “It lets you be who you want to be, lets you say what you want to say, and it gives you a voice, a vision, while having a good time.”

Yes, I won a raffle. When I went to Hoda Kotb’s book signing recently, I entered the raffle to win a piece of jewelry from Jennifer Miller in Palm Beach. Miller’s designs are a favorite with Hoda. The designers are stunning, and the price points range from $5 to $5,000 and more. I won this fabulous cuff. In the photo (below) Nicole, a Jennifer Miller salesperson, and my friend, Lori, who I met at the signing, (center) are with me pointing to my newest piece of jewelry. I just attended the beauty trend event “Hello Gorgeous” at Bloomingdales in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. I’m going to pass along the products highlighted for a flawless, chic look.
For skincare, Clarins super restorative serum was chosen to maintain your skin and reduce aging. Did you know that Clarins was the first plant-based cosmetic line? Clinque presented some sculpting products including a massage applicator. From Shiseido, ultimune was demonstrated.
Now you can spray on a foundation? Dior has air flash. It’s simple, fast and not sticky.
Lancome highlighted the Paris eye palette, while Estee Lauder demonstrated double wear makeup to go in a new innovative compact.
Of course, I made a purchase. My purchase was the Bobbie Brown serum corrector and concealer. Just what I need to get rid of the dark circles under my eyes and keep them bright.
It’s not too early to think about holiday makeup. Deck the halls with lip gloss, glittering eyes and colorful hues with MAC’s newest collection. The packaging is as pretty as the product. I especially liked the set that comes in a mini clutch (below). MAC sums up the collection as Irresistibly Charming.
I like how Nordstrom highlights the collection. It’s so easy to see all the products. In the coming weeks, I will be posting about other makeup brands. What’s your favorite?
Key to the Cure is a nationwide four-day charity shopping event at Saks Fifth Avenue. Saks partners with local breast cancer research teams for a kickoff party with plenty of food, fashion and makeup. The kick off party is not to be missed. It’s the perfect girls night out.
This year I’m part of the Key to the Cure 2015 committee (see photo above by Tracey Benson Photography) that benefits the Comprehensive Cancer Program at Jupiter Medical Center in Florida. Since the event is nationwide, google your city and Key to the Cure to find your event.

Every year a fashion designer creates a unique T-shirt modeled by a celebrity. This year the designer is Jason Wu and the celebrity ambassador is Julianne Moore. This photo is in the new Saks catalog, and the T-shirt can be purchased.
This is a great cause and a great event!
Some boots are made for walking and others are made for a cause. Meet my new friend Bonnie Murphy. She’s a physician and a fashion designer. What a great mix! Her website is www.bonbonboots.com, and she donates 10 percent of the sales to research in breast cancer, ovarian cancer, melanoma and multiple sclerosis. Just look at these dynamite styles!
Fash Bash is a Motown happening. It’s a mix of fall fashion trends and stylish people all for a great cause. Neiman Marcus partnered with the Detroit Institute of Arts’ Founders Council for the runway show. Mlive has all the spectacular photos here.

My buddy, Chuck Bennett (top, far left), hosted a fabulous soiree at the Roostertail in Detroit. The event marked the one-year anniversary of his blog the social D.
All the guests ate, drank and danced to all of Chuck’s favorites. Models wearing Neiman Marcus fashions (lower left) added to the ambiance. Detroit’s finest food establishments catered the party — Forte Belanger, The London Chophouse, Bistro 82, Andiamo, Tre Monti, Addison Eatery and yes, Detroit’s own American Coney Island. Spirits were from Zim’s Vodka and Great Lakes Wine & Spirits. Proceeds from the auction items — a Shinola Watch and a Townsend getaway– benefited three charities. Danialle Karmanos Work it Out DKWIO, the Horatio Williams Foundation and the Rhonda Walker Foundation were the beneficiaries.
I had the opportunity to chat with some interesting people — Dr. Joel Kahn, one of my favorite Beaumont doctors (upper right in the photo with me) and Karen Buscemi (lower right), Rosemary Bannon, Marcy Hayes, Ina Levinson, Tom Anderson, Terry Olson.
