This is the last issue of Styleline magazine produced by The Detroit Media Partnership. It’s disappointing that another Motown magazine has disappeared. Editor Karen Buscemi did a fabulous job of keeping all of us motown fashion gurus in style. Karen, you will find a wonderful home soon. To all my colleagues,  I will miss reading you especially the kids’ corner with Danialle Karmanos, the fun reads by Julie Yolles, and touring the homes  with Jeanine Matlow and Gene Meadows. As a former fashion editor, I can sympathize with the staff. To Hour, Detroit HomeAmbassador and Chuck Bennett’s blog The Social D we are counting on you to keep publishing!

The Social D Debuts

There’s a new website in motown, and Neiman Marcus in Troy, Mich.  celebrated its debut with a fashionable bash.  My friend and colleague, Chuck Bennett, unveiled his lifestyle blog —The Social D, designed by Martin LeFlore.  Chuck is well known in the media as a fashion guru and party scene stealer. His words are as melodious as the sounds of Ben Sharkey and Kimmie Horne who performed at the party. From leather to fur, from hot colors to minimal hues, the fashions were fabulous. Philanthropist Danialle Karmanos (top left) and DKWIO founder introduced Chuck as “the godfather of Detroit.” Need we say more?

Goodfellows Breakfast

No kid should ever be without a Christmas. That’s the motto of the Old Newsboys’ Goodfellow Fund of Detroit. This year’s annual breakfast tribute honored Peter Karmanos Jr., the recently retired CEO of Compuware. Pete is a visionary and philanthropist along with his wife Danialle. The breakfast was held at the renovated Cobo Hall with beautiful vistas of the Detroit River. The choir from the Detroit Academy of Arts and Sciences entertained the crowd. In the top right photo Karmanos is with some of the students. Carmen Harlan and Devin Scillian from WDIV TV (top right) introduced Karmanos. In the lower left photo, Fox2 Detroit TV Anchor Huel Perkins interviews Mayor Dave Bing.
